Someone lifts a photo straight off a website and slaps it on their own page with no credit at all. A paragraph from a blog post shows up word for word on a stranger’s newsletter. A song gets uploaded to a random channel with the label scrubbed off. None of that happens because people are careless on purpose. Most of the time, it happens because there was nothing on the original work telling anyone it was protected in the first place.
A copyright notice is small, but it does a lot of quiet work. It tells the reader who owns the piece, when it was made, and what they can and cannot do with it. Skip it, and there is nothing stopping someone from assuming the material is free for the taking.
The samples below cover the situations most people actually run into, from a simple footer line to a full front matter block for a book. Pick the one that fits, swap in the right name and year, and drop it into place.

Wrapping Up
A copyright notice is one of those small habits that pays off long after the moment you add it. It sets the boundary before anyone has a reason to test it, and it gives you something solid to point to if a piece of your work turns up somewhere it shouldn’t.
Pick the sample closest to what you’re working on, adjust the name and date, and get it live today. Fifteen minutes now can save a lot of frustration later.
